Little Treasures' Nursery

Lets make a difference

2021 'Looking after our world'

Alongside the wonderful experiences your child has at nursery we would like to continue to broaden their understanding of the importance of looking after our wonderful world.

We spend a great deal of time outdoors experiencing varied weather conditions, feeling the sun, wind, rain on our faces, breathing in the fresh air- hot, warm, cool, freezing cold throughout the seasons, having a rosy glow to our cheeks and feeling happy and alive. (Positive wellbeing.)

We have recently put a compost bin in the nursery garden and will shortly have our own bug hotels to fill for all the creepy crawlies. We will then be able to use our own compost to add goodness to our annual fruit and vegetable bed and our new perennial garden.

Each day will have a name to remind us of ways that we can look after our special world.

Make a difference MONDAY. Turning off the lights and the heating when we all enjoy learning outdoors.

Turn our compost TUESDAY.

No waste WEDNESDAY. if your child attends nursery for the whole day we would very much like your child to have a lunch box which contains no or very little plastic. (If you can achieve this each day, even better.)

Think, recycle THURSDAY. The children will take part in putting any paper or plastic into suitable containers in the school grounds to be recycled.

Foot forward FRIDAY. Can everyone walk to school. (I appreciate it isn't always possible, myself included.) We will be promoting exercise for well being and the love of walking. During today (this does happen other times in the week too!) your child will enjoy outdoor exercise to get their hearts pumping.

I look forward to the contribution Little Treasures' Nursery can have to our wonderful world. Perhapsyou may like to continue our themed days at home whether you attend nursery each day or not.

Lets make a difference.
